Anne Frank jokes just aren't as funny as Helen Keller jokes:
Anne Frank, generally ignored at the Washington, D.C. Holocaust Museum, will be the subject of a large exhibition for the museum's 10th Anniversary. The museum plans not to focus on Anne Frank, victim in favor of examining Anne Frank, professional author. Writings which have never been exhibited anywhere before will be included in this installation.

Apparently, AIDS has been traced back to monkeys hunting bushmeat, according to Dr. Beatrice Hahn, a virologist at the University of Alabama. She claims that this is the same way humans contract the virus. Either she's a terrible homophobe or she has a truly fantastic sense of humor, but I can't decide which.

Six degrees of sexual assault:
New York Democratic Assembly speaker aide (jesus that's a long descriptor) J. Michael Boxley has been arrested for allegedly drugging and raping a 22-year old staff member. Boxley has been charged with both first and third degree rape, the difference between which seems questionable at best.

Huh?:
Apparently, several anti-gay groups are lobbying for the repeal of the no fly zone over Disney World. The stricture exists to protect the amusement park from a terrorist attack. The Virginia-based Family Policy Network would like to fly banners over the park during Disney's Gay Days fesitivities promoting various anti-gay websites.

So, John Ashcroft's plan to pick away at the First Amendment is now serving to silence anti-homosexual groups. Ah, sweet irony.

Only the good die young:
The three oldest Supreme Court Justices (all over 70) are all Republicans and one if not all of them may be retiring later this month, after the Court's session is finished, according to this article from the New York Times. Several lower court nominations have already become entrenched in filibuster, pushing Republicans to try to change the filibuster rules. Democrats are specifically looking for a candidate willing to uphold Roe v. Wade. Republicans, obviously, are not.

Because unwanted children raised in abject poverty are better than reproductive freedom:
After eight years of trying, the inaptly-named partial birth abortion has been banned by both the House and the Senate and will invariably be signed by President Bush. One small step for a republican administration, one giant leap toward overpopulation, keeping women in the kitchen where they belong, and making sure that children born out of wedlock pay for the mortal sins of their mothers.

Gay Republicans surprised at lack of support from administration:
According to today's NYT, officials at the Department of Justice have shut down the department's annual gay pride event. Hosted by DOJ Pride, the event was not formally recognized by a presidential proclamation, giving the Justice Department a reason to disallow it.

The first, the Center for Reproductive Rights, is a catch-all, with sections for legal advocacy, human rights, equality, adolescents, safe pregnancy, contraception and abortion.

The second, National Advocates for Pregnant Women is more specifically focused on prosecutions of pregnant women, particularly in cases of drug abuse.

The point of this blog is to keep track of instances of "chloe liking olivia" on the internet; in all its multiple forms. Most obviously, this is where I'll cache bits i find about queerness and feminism, but my net covers significantly more ground then the obvious links to planet out.com and now.org. I'll include sex-positivity, gender-queerness and socio-political examinations of popular culture (as well as more hyphenated phrases, i'm sure).

So to start things off, here's a journal that i read quite often, just beneath my skin. I'd also recommend checking out the blog there.
